Google is thought to rely heavily on news as a source of information. The internet company claims to have introduced a number of platforms and services, including the Google News Initiative and, most recently, the Google News Showcase, to support news publishers.
According to Kate Beddoe, Head of News, Web, and Publishing Product Partnership at Google APAC, the business uses Google News Showcase to assist news providers in boosting traffic and showcasing their content.
The news that Google has acquired from publishers is available in Google News Showcase. Readers can gain deeper understanding into significant data that has been compiled from many Google services using this service.
Paid monthly by Google, participating news publishers will see a boost in revenue.
Additionally, direct traffic to their websites and stronger interactions with readers can help news publishers expand their business.
"This is a license program for publishers to get payment for news and other resources required to run the product. The material that is clicked will take you to the news provider's website "announced Beddoe on Wednesday, 24 March 2021, at the Decode Series by Google online event.
Beddoe stated that 90% of Google News Showcase concentrates on regional, local, and community news sources.
More than 500 news outlets from around the world are currently registered in 13 regions, and the product has been introduced in Brazil, Germany, the United Kingdom, Argentina, and Australia.
The Google News app now includes Google News Showcase. Users can watch it by visiting the news.google.com website or by downloading an app for Android or iOS.
Several global news publishers that have been registered include Reuters, Financial Times, Independent, Evening Standard, Der Spiegel, to Le Monde.
Currently, Google News Showcase will soon be rolling out in more countries, including France, Canada, and Japan.
